The Rafah Chamber of Commerce and Industry participated, as part of the delegation of the Palestinian Federation of Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture, in the extraordinary meeting of the Council of the Union of Arab Chambers, hosted by the Arab League at its General Secretariat headquarters in Cairo. The meeting was convened at the invitation of the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce to discuss current global developments and the role of the Arab private sector in addressing economic challenges.
The Palestinian delegation was headed by Mr. Abdo Idris, President of the Palestinian Federation of Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture and President of the Hebron Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The delegation included Mr. Fathi Salim Qeshta, President of the Rafah Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Mr. Abdullah Al-Satari, Vice President of the Rafah Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Dr. Khairy Al-Masri, President of the Khan Younis Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Mr. Abdel Ghani Al-Atari, President of the Ramallah Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Mr. Tareq Shawer, President of the Qalqilya Chamber of Commerce and Industry; and Mr. Taysir Al-Hamidi, President of the Jericho and Jordan Valley Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The meeting was attended by H.E. Mr. Ahmed Aboul Gheit, Secretary-General of the Arab League, along with a number of Arab officials and representatives of chambers of commerce and business federations from across the Arab world.
Participants discussed ways to support Arab economies amid regional and international challenges, emphasizing the vital role of the private sector in enhancing Arab economic cooperation, achieving sustainable development, and mitigating the impact of global crises.
Discussions also highlighted the importance of Arab chambers of commerce and joint Arab-foreign chambers in strengthening economic partnerships, contributing to greater Arab economic integration, and opening new horizons for investment and joint cooperation.
This participation reflects the commitment of Palestinian chambers of commerce, including the Rafah Chamber, to strengthening their presence in Arab economic forums and actively contributing to shaping future visions that support the Palestinian economy and keep pace with regional and international developments.
